    UDM = Universal Data Model

    I am not 100% sure what you are asking - but if you want to know the difference between X3 data model and the processes in SEI - then the processes OOTB in SEI are based on the X3 data models / tables with specific fields being available.  The processes in SEI can be modified to include additional fields from those tables to build reports.  Dimensions and measures in SEI are the fields from X3 - and can be used to build a report and then also to filter the data being displayed.  The Financial processes are looking at the GACCENTRY tables and use specific fiscal periods and fiscal years.  The Sales invoices, deliveries and orders are all based on transactions from the Sales modules.  The purchase invoice, shipment, delivery are based on the purchase modules.  Any of these processes can be used to build a dashboard in SEI that can also be displayed in X3.  These processes can also be used to build reports using the SEI Excel add in.  Any report can be scheduled to be emailed out on a schedule to specific email addresses if the scheduler has been purchased as part of SEI.

    If you are asking whether to build a report or dashboard directly in X3 using crystal reports and landing pages vs creating this information in SEI - then it depends on the user and what their needs are.  Standard reports for users that are only in x3 should be built in crystal in x3 when the report requirement parameters don't change.  If the user has a need to make changes on how the information is displayed and what is included on the fly, then use SEI.

    Does that help?

    Hi Deborah,Thank you for the reply. But actually my question was what is the difference between the reports in SEI which is under Universal data Model inside SEI and the finance reports in SEI. Both the types of reports are in SEI. What I understood from Sage is UDM is a standard library of reports having KPIs and dashbaords built on Universal standards.The normal finance reports in SEI won't cover all of these. But I really what someone to help me understand in depth the difference between the 2.

    Hi MC_SEI,

    The cubes that come out of the box with SEI are what I assume you are referring to with regards to UDM. These are custom SQL views built out within SEI that have fact tables and aggregated data rather than the SEI reports that are looking at the X3 SQL database directly.

    Thank you Rafael. Actually I am aware of the cube concept  for UDM as well as other finance reports.Functionally if you view SEI,how would you spot the difference between the finance reports/dashboard under UDM and the Finance reports/dashboards available in Command center

    Everything under the Data warehouse folder and the "Finance reports/dashboards" will fall under the UDM. Everything else are not in UDM.
