Voucher Management Error

SUGGESTED

I have these errors in the Voucher Management module whenever I try to create a Customer/Supplier/General Ledger Voucher, Print a Customer/Supplier/General Ledger Voucher and also in the Voucher Management Defaults UI as attached hereunder.

I have uninstalled my antivirus on the PC and also used another PC without an Anti-Virus yet these errors persist.

Please what do I need to do to fix these errors?

    9. Is the error observed on all Evolution companies? Even on a newly created demo company as well at the client’s site? If unsure, please create a new demo company and test for me

    10. Are all users on the network observing the same error on their PC’s? If unsure, please test on the other workstations while logging on as the specific PC’s own agent.

    11. Are there any third party applications that integrate into the Evolution company?

This happens as soon as you click on any dropdown/combo box

    5. Was it working fine before?

Nope. Right from the very day we installed

    7. What happens exactly after the error is observed? E.g. Evolution closes or if clicking OK the user can continue etc.?

In the Voucher UI, one can continue by entering the values in the dropdown/combo box manually if one knows the value to be picked but in       the other 2 UIs you cannot continue except you terminate the process and restart Evolution.

Have you already uninstalled and re-installed Evolution on the problematic workstation/s?

       I have done that severally

    Also, please confirm:

Are all Evolution workstations using Windows 11 Home edition?

  • 0 in reply to Bennie Pienaar

    Here is your request

Not all Evolution workstations are using Windows 11 Home edition, most of them are on Windows 10 Professional edition

  • 0 in reply to Alex Kato

    Thanks Alex

First note that Sage is not able to support Evolution in a network environment when working in a Windows Home edition PC.

This is simply because Windows Home edition has not been designed to be a network supported OS and as a result the same applies to Evolution and company database network communications and interaction with the SQL server.

    Therefore, please confirm:

Are you 100% certain that the same Voucher Management error is also observed on the Windows Professional edition OS workstations?

Or is it perhaps only observed on the Windows Home edition OS workstations?

Sorry, I just need to make sure about the facts

    Hello Bennie,

Here is my response in blue lettering.

First note that Sage is not able to support Evolution in a network environment when working in a Windows Home edition PC.

This is simply because Windows Home edition has not been designed to be a network supported OS and as a result the same applies to Evolution and company database network communications and interaction with the SQL server.

OK I agree with you for a workstation on the network running Windows Home edition but I beg to differ on a standalone PC running Windows 11 Home edition. Some standalone PCs running Windows 10 Home edition don't have this issue but some do. There are standalone PCs running Professional edition with the same issue.

Are you 100% certain that the same Voucher Management error is also observed on the Windows Professional edition OS workstations?

Yes we are, 110% sure. We have also observed the same issue on the Network Server running Windows Server 2016 standard edition

Or is it perhaps only observed on the Windows Home edition OS workstations?

    Nope!

Sorry, I just need to make sure about the facts

    Not an Issue

    Thanks Alex

Ok. let's continue and thank for understanding all these questions as this is still a fairly new query for us to resolve and there are so much factors involved here.

    Please confirm the following:

    1. Operating System of the main Evolution Server PC?

    2. Are you even observing the same error when working directly on the main Evolution Server PC also?

    3. What is the Control Panel  | User Accounts | User Account Control setting on the workstations where the error is observed on? Is it set to Never Notify? Or other setting?

    4. What anti-virus software is running on the workstations?

    5. Have you tested by ensuring Evolution is closed, completely turning off the anti-virus on the local workstation, open Evolution and then test what happens in Voucher Management?

  • 0 in reply to Bennie Pienaar

    Thanks Bennie,

    Here it goes as requested.

    Please confirm the following:

    1. Operating System of the main Evolution Server PC?

    Windows Server 2016 Standard Edition

    2. Are you even observing the same error when working directly on the main Evolution Server PC also?

    Nope

    3. What is the Control Panel  | User Accounts | User Account Control setting on the workstations where the error is observed on? Is it set to Never Notify? Or other setting?

    Never Notify

    4. What anti-virus software is running on the workstations?

    Kaspersky Total Security

    5. Have you tested by ensuring Evolution is closed, completely turning off the anti-virus on the local workstation, open Evolution and then test what happens in Voucher Management?

    Yes

    Additional Information:

We observed that certain workstations running Windows 10 Home edition don't have this issue but all workstations with Windows 11 Home Edition do

    Thanks Alex

Your feedback is very detailed and precise!

Ok, let's stand still around the OS:
You stated that the issue is observed on Windows 11 Home Edition PC's

But you also stated that: "running Windows 10 Home edition don't have this issue"

So please just confirm again just to make absolutely sure:

Are there any Windows 11 Professional edition workstations that also have the same error?

  • 0 in reply to Bennie Pienaar

    Hello Bennie,

As at yesterday before the close of business, we observed the issue on some Workstations running Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Home editions but, on some workstations, running the same OSes, the issue wasn't there. All Workstations running Windows 11 Home edition have this issue. We don't have workstations running Windows 11 Professional.

    Thanks Alex

Ok, let's conclude and take it one step further.

    1. Sage simply can't support any workstation working on a network with the Win 10 or 11 Home edition due to the network inability of such PC's and that may be the actual cause of the VM error on them.

    2. However, you mentioned that even some Win 10 Professional workstations  also have the same error, correct.

    3. My theory is the following:

Because there are Windows 10 Home edition workstations on the network, it may perhaps somehow 'influence / contaminate' Voucher Management operations.

    Therefore, please do the following:

    1. Ensure all users are logged out of the Evolution company (not just minimized)

    2. Restart the Evolution server PC and all workstations

    3. Ensure that only the Windows 10 Professional workstations log on to the Evolution company (no Windows 10 or 11 Home edition PC' allowed at all)

    4. Let only one Evolution user working on a Windows 10 Professional PC workstation and test the VM module, over and over again.

That means, open, process/capture etc, close and repeat. When that user is done testing, then another user also on a Windows 10 Professional PC workstation should also test the VM module,

    5. Please provide feedback on the test results. Are there still any errors observed.

All of this testing should be done with absolutely no logging into the Evolution company by any of the Home edition workstation

    Thanks Bennie,

I will revert to you soonest with our test results but what's your explanation for STANDALONE PCs running Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Pro or Windows 11 Home without Anti-Virus having the same issue?

  • 0 in reply to Alex Kato

    Thanks Alex

Your feedback on my test proposal will be appreciated.

That is a good question... Slight smile

For us this type of VM query is really still some kind of mystery.

However, I'll discuss your query anyways further with Evolution Development to see if they can provide further insight for us

    Blessings!

    Bennie
