Email of Payslip using Office 365 (smtp.office365.com)

Some of our Office 365 users who use the PDF email payslip option have reported issues with their emails not being delivered.

This is where your have setup the SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol)  server as smtp.office365.com.

The following message is recorded on the Error Logfile (available in the ReporterLib Log file in the payroll system directory):

Although we are making every effort to provide a solution to our affected customers as quickly as possible, it appears that it will not be available for the October pay run. Therefore, we would like to advise you to plan accordingly for October and consider the interim solution below.

An interim solution to address the email problem when working in a network environment is to access the payroll directly on the server and email the payslips from the server or enable the use of TLS legacy client.

To enable the TLS legacy client:

  • On the Mail server, go to Exchange Admin Centre > Mail Flow settings page.
  • Under Settings, toggle the setting labelled “Turn on use of legacy TLS clients”.

We understand the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience as we work to improve this functionality. We will communicate any updates or permanent solutions to you promptly.
