"There is no data to report"

SOLVED

When doing analytical work using either the "Account List" or "Receivables Ageing Report", I'm getting the message "There is no data to report". I'm trying to solve a problem by digging down to the original transaction so I can either change it or reverse it. I somehow get the impression that this message is telling me there's damaged data or something and the transaction is no longer available for correction or adjustment. What can I do about this? Is there any option other than creating an equal and opposite transaction? That seems a rather inelegant solution.

If you run the Customer Aged Detail report, then double-click a Receipt and get the No Data report, it is because the receipt is posted as part of the original invoice.  The invoice was not posted as Pay Later.  So in this case, check out the invoice for that information.

    I am assuming your

    "Account List"

is actually the General Ledger report (and the same thing happens with the General Journal report), when you get the No Data message by double-clicking the entry in specific spots, this usually indicates that entry was already adjusted or reversed.  If this is the case, then hit Ctrl-F and look for the the J# for that entry.  Adjusted or reversed entries always reference the original journal entry that was altered.  Once adjusted or reversed the original data entry screen cannot be looked up to see the original entry, you must find the final entry if adjusted or if reversed, there will not be a data entry lookup screen.

Just doing some data entry and realised there is another time when There is No Data to Report shows up.  When you are in the General Ledger or General Journal and try to drill down on a credit card payment, you will get the same message.  Credit Card payments cannot be looked up in the data entry screen.  There is probably nothing wrong with the entry but it is just not a feature in the program to look up all entries.

recently started at this company. all credit card payments were entered wrong. how do i correct a transaction that added money to credit card balance. When i click on the transaction it says no data to report. how do i find the original transaction to correct it. I don't want my bank rec to be out either.

    HELP!!

one more thing. Reconciliation of bank has already been done!

This sounds more like an entry that pays down the credit card balance (payment of the credit card) not adds money to the credit card balance (purchase paid by credit card).

If I am correct, then you cannot edit those transactions, that feature is still not part of the program.  To make adjustments you will have to do them manually make general journal entries.

If the bank reconciled, how bad can those payments really be?

Did anyone do the credit card reconciliations?

no credit card rec ever done or bank rec. had to do a bulk bank rec for the last year. started fresh for this year. credit card payment made was for 22000.00. did journal entry to try and correct but it just keeps bouncing from bank rec to credit balance each time. don't know how to correct its a mess now!

It was a double payment entry so i need to remove from the credit card balance.

if i look on transaction by account report its there. not on rec. then not on report and on rec.

I'm not sure if I have enough information to give the best advice, but it sounds like an entry was posted to correct a double credit card payment posted in the bank account but the second payment never really happened.  So you debited the bank and credited the credit card liability account.

The problem is that the debit didn't show up on the bank statement.  If this is the case, then you likely have a problem with the bank rec and you may have to undo the last bank rec and repost it or because it was only the one bank rec anyway, it might be better to just reset the bank rec module for your bank account and start over.  This should pickup any missing entries in the bank rec module.

Make sure you get a good backup before you reset the module.  It would likely be the best option to keep everyone off the file as well until you have it sorted out so if you have to restore your backup, you will not lose other people's work.
