Pension updates mid month

Question

Can I update employees pensions outside of when I run payroll? For example, can I add opt out dates or do I need to wait until the end of the month when I run payroll? 
 Also, do I upload the signed opt out forms via Sage or do I need to do via NOW Pensions or both? 
 
 Sorry if these are stupid questions but I have recently taken the payroll over and trying to sort out errors and familiarise myself with the pension module.

Hi Jenny, 
 Thanks for using our Product Support Community. 
 Although processing the Pension Assessment , including opting out, opting in and postponement, is part of the Payroll Tasks list, you can run this before you process your payroll for the period. 
 You can attach the opt out notice in Sage 50 Payroll via the Pension Module, however you don&rsquo;t need to send this to NOW: Pensions as they should already be aware of the employee&rsquo;s request to top out. You can find full info on how to process opt out requests here .
