Peachtree beginning balance error

SOLVED

The question for Peachtree users :

In 2016 yr book, I set up accrued expense accountant without beginning balance

then I have two entries total about $(4800) in 6/30/16, the ending balance of 2016 should be $(4,800)

but in 2007,  there is no beginning balance

so I delete the 2016 entries, find out there is $4,800 beginning balance in 2017, why the 4,800 come from?

and I try to change the beginning balance in Chart of Account, but there is no select period time for 2017, only end up 2016

Therefore,1)  I don't know why yr2017 has begining balance for 4,800

                2) I can not change my beginning balance

                3)  I can not delete the account with a beginning balance

Thanks for your help

I am very confused by your post.  Beginning balances should only be entered for one period when you set up your company.   If you have filed tax returns and you start changing these numbers you are going to be changing your retained earnings.

These numbers should not just disappear unless someone went back in and deleted the beginning balances or put new balances in different periods, OR you have data corruption.

You can get back to the beginning balances by setting your posting method to BATCH POSTING (Maintain > Company information) and unposting all entries.  When you go to chart of Accounts, now all previous periods will show.

    OR

If you think you have data corruption, You may wish to turn back to Period 1 and run data verification.  Open Sage 50, go to Period 1, go to File > Data Verification(DV).   Run both tests and label your backup ORIGINAL and do not write over it!

If it fixes a lot of mistakes, run DV again.  If you don't get any more errors that is good.  IF you get new errors, RESTORE the original back up.  You probably have data corruption and may need a data repair.  FYI-  DV can eat away your data trying to fix errors!  Be careful with this process.
