3rd Party PR companies

SUGGESTED

Does anyone use a 3rd Party payroll company? We will be using a 3rd party payroll company next year and I was wondering how other companies are utilizing these companies.

Thank you,

We currently use Paychex and are being woo-ed  by ADP to switch. Also curious who other companies use and their opinions.

Hello, we made the switch from Paychex to ADP begining of this year primarily for the savings of 30%.  Since we self perform, we enter PR in Sage for the the sake of job costing.  A program was developed for us to export PR file to ADP and ADP takes care of the rest.  Direct Deposits/ Checks/ PR Tax Filings/ W2, W3 Filing.  ADP exceeds in customer service over Paychex however Paychex had a more user friendly platform and reports.

    Juanita -

I have several customers that utilize Checkwriters as their 3rd Party Payroll Company.  Time is entered in Sage 300CRE thru Payroll / Service Management and processed.  An export report is written to report the check pays, deductions, taxes, units that is uploaded.  The difference I have found with Checkwriters is that they will accept Timberline's calculations of FWH / SWH, so you don't need to go back and edit the checks to account for the way different accounting systems can calculate taxes.

When I last checked, Paychex and ADP would not allow usage of your withholding taxes.  It has been quite awhile since I've investigated this, so it may have changed.  Nothing worse than having to go thru each check and edit the taxes to be what your 3rd Party determined they should be, IMHO.

We use the 3rd party vendor because with less than 10 employees, and only 3 being cost coded it is way easier than Sage PR and I don;t have to worry about all of the year end updates and other Sage issues.

I don't use the PR function in Sage at all. I enter each payroll as an invoice with appropriate GL codes for withholdings, etc. and then  direct Job Cost the few employees' timesheets.

I think it all depends on how complex your situation is and if you really need all of the data for every transaction in Sage in or not.

As others have mentioned there are also import techniques available if you are so inclined.

We self perform Payroll and use he Sage Field Operations (aka Sage Service Operations) cloud for field Timesheet tracking.  We import a csv file from SFO into Sage PR for payroll processing.   We formerly used Sage Construction Anywhere, when it retired we looked all the other Timesheet systems but stuck with SFO.  ADP has also tried to woo us but we prefer to keep it all inhouse.

    Amanda,

Interested in finding more about  Sage Field Operations (aka Sage Service Operations) cloud for field Timesheet Tracking.

We've been researching to find the best source for automating timesheets/time entry.  Would like to get your feedback.

    Weekly processing/ 100-150 field time sheets/ 10-20 projects.

    Hi AnaC,

If you are interested in a demo of SSO/SFO, shoot me your account number and I can have someone get back to you.

    Thanks!

We currently use SSO for our service dept. work order dispatch and processing.  It has streamlined some of our payroll procedures and work order invoicing for that dept.  We have been relatively pleased with the program.  We also use Exaktime for our production crews and import the time entries directly into Sage payroll.  I would recommend both programs.

    Hi Lisa,

Did your group consider using SFO / SSO for recording time against production jobs? What are some of the challenges that set you in another way?

    Thanks

No, just the service dept. as prior to this we were already utilizing Exaktime for both service and productions crews.  SSO was implemented mainly to enable our service technicians to enter register items and payroll hours directly into the work orders in Service Management and to better track the technicians whereabouts and schedule the scope of work accordingly.

that makes sense. We currently use TimeClock Plus but are wanting to creatively make it into a single platform - mainly SSO / SFO to reduce variation in process.
