HI. It is stock managed but not lot managed.

No the question is different. Can you check if the product record has the field 'Back-to-back order' (CTMFLG3) ticked in the tab 'Sales'? If yes, the back-to-back management bypass the allocation process to force an assignment with the related reorder document (PO or WO).

If this is your problem, to be able to manage an allocation, you just need to open the sales order with the ALL entry transaction and on the related sales order lines you modifiy the Product source to 'Normal'

Ah hah.   Yes, it does,  That is probably the issue.    I'll explore around that and see what I can figure out.

Hi.  Thanks for that.  I'll explore this as well, but part of the idea of auto allocation is top avoid extra line entries on SOs that have potentially a hundred lines.  I'll still explore around your suggestion.  Thank you for it.

Assuming, you enable back-to-back by mistake, I suggest you to unticked the  field 'Back-to-back order' on the product record -> this will prevent new sales order lines to have the same issue. But for existing sales order lines, you need to modify the lines manually as explained above.

This is an ongoing issue into the future for new SOs, so I will be mindful of what have said.  Thank you.

A first test suggests the back-to-back flag has solved the problem.   Changing the Source to Normal didn't seem to change the behaviour too much.   I need to do proper testing now.
