Hi

To remove auto allocation on sales order you can follow the following steps

1. go to Parameter values "All>Setup>General parameters" .

2. under VEN - Sales on folder level or Company level Select SAL in Details.

3. Change INIALLORD and RSTALLORD to 'No'

TO REMOVE SHORTAGE

4. Go to Inventory STO and select MIS miscellaneous Details

5. Change the GENSHT to 'NO'

I still want to create shortages, and the ability to auto allocate, but I do not want it to auto allocate when I press the save button. 

As well, I just checked this on our current system, and sage is already set to those settings and it is still generates shortages

Can you please share the screenshot of the screen for clear understanding, where exactly you are pressing the save button

you can check for is there any company/site/legislation level parameter value are setup.

I am pressing the save button on the sales order screen. (GESSOH) On the sales order screen, when we have an order and it is partially allocated, we would create a shortage. When we press the save button after allocating partially, and creating the shortage, the system is like hey they said this is short but I see products available to be allocated so I am just going to allocate the remaining products to this order even though the user did not allocate the product himself. 

Where would I look for that?

I think we have a similar situation where we ship short.  It DOES not create a shortage.   There is no shortage really.

1. Customer orders 3 widgets. The order is entered as 3.

2. Client goes to warehouse and can only find 2.  

3. Pull up the SO and Line and on the action button do manual allocation.   Change allocation to 2 and create a shortage of 1.

4. Save it and it leaves it at 2 but does not create a shortage, even though inventory still shows we have 1 left.  It does not allocate it.

This seems to change THAT line to manual allocation temporarily.  Not sure that will work.  Someone should check my work. 

I am replying to my reply.  Went back and tested.  It will create a shortage.  When doing the manual allocation you get a prompt.  

I thought  it did and we had created shortages to get PO allocation against automatically so I was looking at some items and they didn't seem to have shortages.    The users must have messed up.   We should just turn off the option button since this client always want shortages highlighted.

after you get the prompt, and create a shortage, can you make some sort of change to the header of the sales order so the save button will become undisabled. Press the save button, and does the system auto allocate the shortage with the products available?

AFAIK you can.  We change the rep and said "affect detail lines YES"  and it didn't change.  

Here are two items, manually allocated with a shortage and without a shortage.  They didn't change.  

As I said, i think the manual allocation locks it as manual.   You have to reallocate it to change it back.

It allocates and eliminates the shortage if i say YES to affect detail lines.   If I say YES if the same value and I am changing the sales rep, it did not.

So in some cases, don't know all, it appears that on a SAVE it does refill the allocation if you still have them in stock.

There is Parameter value Setup>General Parameters>Parameter values>STO>[your solution folder or legislation]>MIS>SHTDLV - it will allow or prevent to generate the shortage for missing quantities. 

The parameter setting is irrelevant to this problem except that i need to be on and it is to allow shortages.

The problem is solved by a manual allocation but it was not working consistently.  Maybe it is if you are very careful.  

I think i found the procedural error in entering the manual allocation.

1 Do a manual allocation creating a shortage.

2. Go to management tab and add "jack" as a contact ( if you don't know jack....) and Save

Shortage stuck.  I did not reallocate.

The difference was that I ONLY entered the shortage on the grid of the manual allocation page and did not change anything in the header.    Changes in the header seem to cause inconsistent results.  Specifically, do not change the TO ALLOCATE field in the header of the manual allocation screen.  Only the grid.

Tested twice on two orders on two lines.  If you say affect detail lines when you save the header changes it will reallocate and the shortages are gone.  You are hosed
