Default Locations within Product-Site

SUGGESTED

All,

We have default locations setup using product-site within our system. However, there are times when we need more than one location to store products because of space & their replenishment levels. My question, can you add more default locations within Product-Site?

You can set a default location with wild cards. For instance, you can set a default location STO12* and if any locations starting with STO12 is available (for instance STO121, STO122, STO123…

    Hi

You can set a default location with wild cards. For instance, you can set a default location STO12* and if any locations starting with STO12 is available (for instance STO121, STO122, STO123, STO124, STO125, STO126, ...) it will be suggested.

I assume your location type is set with  'Capacity managed' ticked.

Thank you Julien, they are indeed capacity managed and we are using FEFO, not FIFO. I'l give you an example. We have an aisle that is G01-G70. There is a product that is in G39, G39, G39 but those locations are actually G39, G37, G35. The monthly consumption is enough to use three locations (G39). It would be nice if we could put those in their respective locations(e.g. G39, G37, G35). It's a bear when we had end of year cycle. The bank cycles by location so we had to add up all three bays to get the cumulative and then count.

So with the product I mentioned we would have to set the default as G3* or what would that be?

I don't understand the sentence above, would you mind rephrasing?

If you set G3* as default location for the location category 'ABC'.

Then any receipt movements, with stock management rules set as 'ABC', will trigger a suggestion on G3 something. If the G31 is availble, then it will be suggested. Once the G31 is not longer available, G32. I am afraid, I don't see an easy way to restrict to only G35, G37 or G39. You can use 'Dedicated location' for the  G01-G70 aisle, and if your current product is only assigned to G35, G37 or G39n then it should work. The problem is now you need to assign all products to the various locations linked to the same location type.

On issue (assuming the allocation rule is rectricted on a specific location category), then the system will pick the first stock available on location starting with G3.
